Silence is better than this podcast
Who is entertained by this? Nonsense, way too much yammering abt nothing. Edit. Edit. Edit
Adding video has ruined this podcast.
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years. It helped me prep for our Japan trip. However, when they just recently added the Video download, it no longer works. I always download podcasts in the morning before my commute. When I play this on my drive it doesn’t play, tells me I can only download on WiFi, then deletes the podcast. This only happens with this podcast.
Chaotic Insignt
While I find this podcast interesting and I do enjoy the little Japan stories they cover and the letters from tourists abducted by cults, I struggle with the banter. Either these blokes have terrible chemistry or they have a lag in their connection because They are constantly talking over each other and stepping on each others jokes or points. It’s the clumsiest banter ever. It’s like one guy will be telling a story and the other guy will just start talking like he can’t hear him, literally long sentences as if the other guy is muted. It gets almost unlistenable at times and I’ve turned it off out of frustration. Other than that, you can actually learn funny tidbits about life in Japan from a very Eurocentric white dude perspective if that’s your thang.
Not okay, Chris, to attack the Oriental Pearl Channel.
I'm a fan of Oriental Pearl. And Chris, I understand how you believe the sensationalist Japan content is getting out of hand. But your perception of sensationalism is not everyone else's… And that's an opinion. And that's okay. Accept that you are making false accusations about Anming just because you think she is a sensationalist. Anming is not saying "Japan content is getting out of hand" by showing snippets of some graffiti. She's just emphasizing how Japan used to be cleaner, and now it's not as clean as it used to be. Chris, I think you missed the message in her videos. The video's message comes to the conclusion that our humanity is starting to fall apart, not that it's the end of Japan. But it's starting to fall apart.
Super helpful!
I’ve been visiting Japan yearly for the last six years and always find this pod interesting & valuable! I’m in Tokyo right now and listening. Love it! Also loved Chris’s book!
