Another misleading podcast
Season 2, once again, podcasters mislead a story with red herrings. Yet another one of these I hear and get to the end of and think, no, he or she is where they should be; in prison. To quote Serial and Adnan’s case later is even more bizarre. That kid is a manipulative smooth talking sociopath and there was no doubt in my mind at the end of that show that he killed her. You can throw out a 1000 red herrings, but when you stop being distracted by these journalists doing everything they can to distract you, you’ll see and hear the truth. In Season 2, had you wanted to do a story on false confessions, just do that. But to tie it to this case. Bizarre. Jason absolutely was there and had a part. He deserved every second he spent in prison. There were things that only he could have known that were conveniently talked about quickly and never revisited. Specifically stabbing someone in the back, which is unusual. Do I believe that details in his confession her coerced by the detectives. Absolutely. But should the guy be let go? Absolutely not. He was there. These podcasters focus your attention on all of the details that may have been coerced and try and convince you that this person made a COMPLETE false confession. This story was done because focusing on misleading details is what fuels these types of podcasts. It serves their interest. I’m sorry Hugh confessed to killing his Mom. I NEVER would confess to something like that. Finding an individual who did not have the intelligence to NOT CONFESS TO MURDERING HIS MOM then suggest this happens all of the time…ridiculous and dangerous. Hugh…you know why you were in prison? YOU CONFESSED TO KILLING YOUR MOM. Here’s a tip. Don’t do that. It’s clear for self serving purposes that this journalist wanted to do a podcast about false confessions, but to tie it to this particular murder was a stretch. Be better. What’s true after listening to Season 2? Jason was a POS at his young age, was there and deserved his prison time. The fact that Ken just got away with it, absolutely disgusting. Police do coerce additional details into confessions with interrogation, but the entire confession doesn’t deserve to be thrown out because a journalist throws up smoke and mirrors.
Great. People are stupid
Series 2, as we see over and over if you listen to true crime, yet again demonstrates how cops, prosecutors and victims families care about a conviction, not getting the truth. Impossible to trust the justice system. Prosecutors shouldn’t be allowed to be judges.
please edit those poor recordings out of what is otherwise a heart wrenching and gripping podcast
many of the recordings are so poor that they are not useful to the narrative since you cannot understand what anyone is saying. either summarize in your own words or just read from the transcript. the poor sound quality actually aggravates my misophonia. some of these recordings go on and on for what seems an eternity but may only be two minutes, if that. these recordings short shrift the show and public radio's integrity. please, please fix, so others' ears don't bleed.
INCREDIBLE!!!
What an absolutely incredible piece of work! Season 1 was incredible & not a drop off at all for season 2. Incredible journalism at its finest!
