Becoming You with Suzy Welch

On behalf of your children, kindly reflect on your role in your relationship with them. Your kids should not be so aware of all the (personal, harmless) choices they make that you don’t like. I empathize for what they have felt like under your shadow. The world doesn’t need 8 billion Suzies. We need one Suzy and they need a mom who doesn’t make them feel bad for any opinion they have that differs with theirs.

Stumbled across this podcast and had to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. Then got blasted when the commercials came on. The content is ok. I only listened to one episode. I wasn’t familiar with her. When she mentioned her husband, Jack Welch, well, I’m very familiar with who he is. He pivoted the business strategy of GE to focus only on shareholder value. Well we all know how that has played out - tons of wealth in the hands of a few while the rest of us struggle to make a living and use products that suck and don’t last - by design. Thanks Jack!

I just discovered this podcast due to the “show me your apartment” guy on social media. I’m listening episode by episode from the beginning. My 6 word novel would be “Girl, you were never the problem.”

Wish I had found Suzy sooner. The book is great, the podcast is great, the newsletter is (I’m sticking with it) GREAT! Be prepared for painfully good introspection. Grateful to have found Becoming You.
