Why the ai voices??

KH12917/16/2026

I listened to several episodes and wanted to keep going, but the use of the AI generated voices finally got to be too much for me. Especially when used for the podcast host and another producer for a text exchange…you’re already recording your voices, that seems like a very weird choice. Having a voice actor, or even one of the producers read Coco’s posts and any other voices would’ve been a much better choice than generative AI for the sake of generative AI.

Too much AI

Overall an interesting, well told story. But there was not only a lot of generative AI use, but the overly gushing about "isn't this AI SOOOOOO good" by the host was very off putting.

Interesting story, unfortunate use of AI to read…

This podcast is very interesting and tbh I binged the entire thing in a couple days. I will say I haaaate that they use AI to not only speak Coco’s posts, etc, but to literally speak the hosts text messages. I hope they read the thousands of comments hating on the use of AI and don’t do this going forward.

Good reporting and presentation…

But I couldn’t get the chronic vocal fry past me. Couldn’t get to episode 2.

Not supporting AI over working actors

doodledood45785/25/2026

While it seems like a compelling and well produced podcast based on my short listen, I can support materials that are pushing out working people in favor of AI content. I appreciate the host stating up front that they are using AI generated voices to read social media posts, which gave me the information I needed to make this choice not continue listening to the whole series.
