My Childhood is Restored!
I used to listen to these stories on the radio when falling asleep as a kid. I always thought about them as I got older and now at 53, I’m able to hear them again. Thank you so much for this.
Brings back memories
I used to listen to episodes in high school. It would come on at 10:07 PM, usually on WNAX Yankton SD. However, I would often fall asleep about halfway through a given episode and thus not know how certain episodes ended. One episode was about Alexander the Great. I was so inspired that I ended up writing my senior high school term paper on him. CBS Radio Mystery Theater was a terrific program and I’m so glad that it is available on podcast format.
Time travel
Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s I would leave work late at night from Billings, MT. and head back home through Wyoming to Colorado and listen to radio theater from the local station. About halfway through the trip I could pick up KOA on the radio and listen again. It was a great way to pass the time as it was so pitch black out and hardly any traffic. Your mind could really see the story with the voices and sound effects. I just listened to the first one and realized in the credits that it was Agnes Moorhead (Endora) from Bewitched in the title role.
End of an era
The show was on the radio from the 70s through the 80s. Edward G Marshall, big TV star hosted and was a great character actor. he was in the critically acclaimed movie 12 angry men. I believe this was probably the last of the great regularly scheduled radio drama programs... At least the era went out with a bang.
Omg! Total childhood revisit
I listened to KSFO in the Bay Area in the 70’s and 80’s and Mystery Theater was my favorite! It is so great to listen to radio drama again (and tune out the real life drama). Love it!
