Best CFP Pod - Mailbag!

Wessie F Baby6/5/2026

Informative, energetic, and entertaining. Bonus points for never hosting a current officeholder as a guest on the show. Question — How do you guys (or CFB media in general) get reliable intel about the true cost of teams’ rosters? Seems like a weird gray area bc you hear media members cite dollar figures with relative certainty, but nothing is officially documented or self-reported. Thanks and We Are. Wes Round Hill, VA

Best Pod out there (mailbag)

Cover 3 is a great podcast and the only one I listen to daily whether it’s when I’m working out, driving, or spending time relaxing at home. Each host brings a unique and differing viewpoint to the conversation and all have great stories. Question: at the end of 2022, Oregon State finished 9-3 and was ranked 14th in the final CFP rankings (with Oregon being ranked below us). Obviously the next few years were not kind to either OSU or WSU. What does Cover 3 believe is the future of these two schools? Will they continue to be feeders to power schools and potentially remain outside of the elite conferences? Or perhaps more importantly, do you think there is a place for them in a theoretical super league being that they are in a unique situation and clearly have power conference abilities and infrastructure? Thanks for your time!

SEC vs ND

Fat Fols5/28/2026

It's almost June and the cover 3 guys are busting butt talking college ball. Love it. After listening to Thursday show, everyone is against SEC taking their ball and going home BUT it's the ND football playbook. Football runs business and other sports can go to another league. Mainly pointing out Tom's view of "why would you play SEC football teams vs USC doesn't want to play ND anymore, is a poor move cause of "tradition". Seriously just asking and respect Tom's opinion. Cheers!!!!

Mailbag : CFB Optimism

Cover 3 covers the whole spectrum of opinions of CFBP expansion and how that will impact the sport, specifically the regular season. Given your differing opinions and exposure to various CFB fans, do you actually notice any meaningful decrease in care or passion for the regular season? For me and the folks I interact with, I feel like there are more fans of more schools that are as engaged as ever. I just wanted to hear the guys’ perspective on how you currently perceive engagement/interaction with CFB fans.

CFB MAILBAG

Love the show and always a good listen to get ready for the college football season. There’s always a lot of talk of a super league being formed with emerged between the SEC and Big Ten. Well, also pulling some of the bigger brands from the ACC and big 12. One thing that never gets discussed in this scenario is how the NFL would react. The NFL is hell bent on expansion and growth even while being the king. Do you think that the NFL would allow this to happen or do you think that they would use their power to head to court and repeal the 1961 broadcasting act and argue that college football is no longer an amateur sport so that they could play on Saturdays and go head-to-head with college football?
