No Talking Dateline and Andrea please just speak normally

Cappuccinomama8/15/2026

No one likes the Talking Dateline. We’re here for the full story episodes. I agree with many of the other reviewers in that I can’t listen to Andrea Canning. Her intonation when narrating is just so contrived that it’s actually a distraction. She’s completely fine when she’s interviewing so I wish she would just read in her normal voice. Please give us a way to filter episodes by host!

Yet another subscription failure

News outlet greed is overwhelming. Bombarded with advertising and now demanding subscriptions, when we the listeners are the reason you exist.

Pay wall

If you all keep going you have lost a listener. This subscription based pay thing has got to stop. I have had it with greedy news organizations. There are. A lot of very good FREE true crime outlets out there. Just as good as Dateline or better. I will just listen to them.

Annoying and not the same

When it was just dateline episodes it was great. That’s what we’re here for, right? I get the need to add something extra to give the podcast an edge, set it apart from all the others. Unfortunately for me, you missed the mark. I highly dislike the talking dateline episodes, all the spinoffs, everything’s so cluttered. When you just want to listen to a podcast you have the intro to this, episode 5 of that, the recap of something else. For the love of god - you just want to listen to a show. Snd when you do think they’ve actually posted a show you can listen to, it’s behind a pay wall. It’s not at all worth it. And I agree with some other reviewers, Andrea leaves much to be desired. I cringe a bit with her “oh that must have been so sad…” it’s actually dismissive and not at all genuine. In most cases someone was murdered, found dead, missing, etc. I’d think you’d have better words/expressive tone as a journalist than this.

Question

I pretty much only listen to the audio in Podcasts of dateline and I’m your biggest fan but why do I feel like the last place on earth I’m going to hear an episode of dateline is in the dateline podcast feed? So much other stuff! Way too much of other podcasts, bonus episodes, etc. I would love to just hear dateline. Thank you for all you do.
