I used to absolutely love Wizard and the Bruiser but the last 2 years or so have been pretty lackluster. Tie in the new name and additional member and throwing out what people loved about the show has just ruined it for me. Pity that a show can fall from grace so quickly. Sorry to see the good gone and the new stuff a shell of what the show was. Review update for 2026: decided to give this another listen after a few years away. I actually dropped my review down to 1 star instead of 2. Mike is INTOLERABLE to listen to. This show has nothing left of the magic it once held. They no longer talk about beloved franchises the way they did, now they just berate all the same things they used to speak positively about. Mike sucks, the new format sucks and you should skip this pod to find something better to listen to.

Man that Ticketmaster episode was unlistenable. I love this show but holy cow. You do not need to say every joke that pops into your head. Especially when someone else is in the middle of a story or anecdote. And if you just say, than maybe have it cut out in editing. It is frustrating to listen to. Feels like a writers room session rather than a podcast.

First off, totally love the show, love you guys and the topics you pick are great even for people who don’t know anything about some of them. Good comprehensive look at the topics, love the history/education. But just if you could please allow each other to finish more than a few sentences at a time. The bits and puns are so frequent lately that I can’t keep track of the information. I like the jokes, but just tone it back a little please

He’s mean, self important and not funny. Ruined the show for me, I used to love the dynamic between Holden and Jake, nowadays it seems like they’re just barely managing to tiptoe around Mike’s demanding and domineering personality.
