Commander 300-400

PreciselyDani1/13/2026

Love the dad jokes, I don’t love the funny name callouts. I’d be mortified and upset if I paid money to support them and they did that to me. The content is thoughtful and interesting and I aspire to build and play like they do. The Command Zone YouTube and podcast is like a 100 or 200 level college class while EDHRec is 300-400 level. They work with the understanding that you have a very proficient knowledge of commander, the frequently seen cards and commanders. It also ages better and is a pleasure to listen to older content as well.

Great work, but spotty opinions.

I’ve listened to Dana, Matt, and Joey for close to 3 years now, and the work they put into the show is obvious. The amount of stats they track on their own time is phenomenal. And there are times they make me laugh while I’m at work listening to the podcast. There are times where episodes do feel forced as if they don’t have other ideas.. but the content must keep rolling to pay bills. So I get it. My biggest gripe is the political stuff that gets snuck in every other episode, and for a while it was every episode. Be it brief (like 10 seconds) but we get it guys.. you guys are very liberal and so is most of the popular channels revolved around the magic community. So most of the time it seems like an echo chamber among popular channels to regurgitate the same wording or “ideas” that doesn’t necessarily represent most of the player-base. And I wish when they disagree on a subject, mechanic, card etc. that they would dive more into that on the show instead of brushing over it so the arguments could be more compelling and/or understandable regardless if you agree or disagree.. because it adds depth to the show. (I’m sure you guys have those conversations off the show but keeping it on the show would help the audience understand more.) Again, this doesn’t take away from the work they put in to what they love, it’s just a common gripe I have across the magic community of content creators.

Funny and awesome and educational

I find this podcast awesome because of how much they talk about one of my favorite games. I also love dad jokes. 83 squirrels out of 53 stars

It feels like a fun, lighthearted conversation about Magic amongst friends. Each host brings their own opinions and takes that allow for great conversation. 10/10, 5/5, what have you.
