Hot Bench

It’s hard to believe its been 12 years since this show aired. The one thing that I would like to see is Yodit dissenting more. She’s only dissented twice in season 9 and has not dissented since.

In the past I’ve rated Hot Bench 4/5 stars because it’s fun, entertaining, and sometimes even educational. The main reason I listen to this podcast is that it puts a smile on my face. (I’m also a huge fan of Judge Judy and it has shades of that.) The most recent episode, “Gone in a Snack”, left me with a really icky feeling and a grimace. The reasoning, rationale, and lack of empathy expressed about the plaintiff in their private discussion (especially from Judge Juarez), struck me as over the top. Their continued line of questioning about if there was a sexual nature to the relationship, even after she told them no, clearly triggered her emotionally. It seemed she left the courtroom, not to be evasive, but bc she was about to cry in public. The defendant was a self admitted hot tempered jerk who kicked her out bc she was too strapped for cash supporting a 2 year old and couldn’t afford to be in a situation where housemates were eating her groceries. The judges said they were on her side, but bc she left the courtroom, that was enough for them to decide this guy didn’t have to give her the $700 for a months rent when she was only there a couple of days before he went nuclear on her, took her key, and yelled at her to leave? Ew. Overly harsh.

I like it but the female judge (Yodit Tewolde) is always trying too hard. Makes it seem fake an stages

I love this show idk why they have a 3.5 rating. It’s AMAZING. Fun tot listen to while doing work! Please keep it coming ♥️
