Learning and self-improvement the easy way

Little doses of very helpful info; always relevant and well-researched. I particularly appreciate the health and parenting episodes. I’d love to see more episodes on digital minimalism.

Great tool for my health

I recently came across the Life Kit podcast. Just like everything NPR-this is a great podcast! I have learned so much in just one week of listening.

Misinformation

Sighanothernickname•2/26/2026

The women’s health “myths” episode was… baffling. A journalist should not have the authority to publish a book and speak on podcasts about serious heath issues like breast cancer. “…And what doctors will say is that if you do qualify for breast MRI, in addition to mammogram and possibly ultrasound, try to schedule them six months apart from each other. So you're actually getting two screenings a year.” Who the heck is recommending that? If you “qualify” for a breast MRI and/or diagnostic mammogram + ultrasound, go right away! These additional scans were ordered for a reason, not a 6 month later idea. Some referrals/orders for these scans may expire within 6 months! As for the other “myths” none of the information discussed are new revelations. For years, health guidelines have promoted both cardio and weight lifting exercises, regardless of age/gender!

Always enjoyable

A fantastic series! In “Tired of being tired”, in case of half the population between the ages of mid-30’s to early 50’s it could easily be perimenopause! All the suggestions are good, but may not help much with decreasing estrogen.

Great short podcast to start your day in a positive way!
