Still love the show but having some issues with it

I sadly feel that in the last year or two the topics have gotten more boring. This spring I struggled to finish eps. I find random internet lists and personalities categories and similar fluff topics to be quite dull. Additionally the dynamic of the boss/company owner being on the show and having a segment where she shared her own feelings on the Macklemore issue with almost no pushback or countering views didn’t sit right with me. I still care about the show greatly but have been struggling with some of the topics and some of the hosts. I enjoy Amelia, Holly, the Stephen sisters and now Kesha. I enjoy smart witty funny convos about wide ranging topics - politics, current events, pop culture, etc. Remember when MMOL was a debate show? That was fun and engaging, would love more of that again!

Sadly irrelevant

Mia doesn’t really have any insight on financial/cost of living as she grew up in obscene generational wealth via her father (that Jessie is now a part of). Mia’s dad owns a YACHT, folks. PS the constant mispronunciation of words is embarrassing. How do you get to 50 and not know how to say “labia”? Or pronounce Gisèle Pelicot’s name correctly? And the rampant misspellings in the podcast descriptions. It speaks to poor preparation.

Wow, way to ruin a great podcast

I listen regularly from the states. Today’s topic regarding the concert derailed what could have been a great episode and unfortunately, my ability to listen to this podcast further. Even her co-hosts were struggling to bring the conversation back to reality. Apologetics for what’s happening in that region because you have an identity associated with the perpetrators of this issue is one thing, but to claim that artists cannot speak to it is wild. Blaming people who are speaking out against it and claiming they are causing the end of other artists careers is even more wild. Everyone has protected speech right? Unless you don’t like what they say right? Can’t say I’m going to be able to to her again after this.

Please bring back the old magic

I’ve been listening to Out Loud for 10 years, religiously. It was always my favorite podcast. I can’t make it through an episode now. You are all intelligent hosts who I respect, but it feels like you’re too scared to say anything that might slightly offend the masses. The topics and conversations feel so superficial. All 3 hosts always agree with each other on everything, there is no form of ‘healthy debate or respectful disagreement’ which the show has always prided itself on. I feel that very large news stories - that women are actually talking about - are completely missed or glossed over. I don’t want to give up on Out Loud but I find myself constantly searching for new shows now. I really miss the magic that the show retained for so long. Please just don’t be afraid of people’s opinions, talk about the real stories like you really would around a dinner table. You don’t have to appeal to everyone, appeal strongly to the people who value real, honest, respectful conversation through multiple viewpoints.

Love!

Found this pod a few months ago and now I look forward to it every MWF. The topics are relevant, the women are intelligent and have interesting perspectives and aren’t afraid to (respectfully) disagree with each other. I love their book and tv show recommendations. I live in California but spent a good chunk of time in Australia in my twenties and fell in love with Sydney and the Australian people. I was looking for a women driven podcast that wasn’t just about reality tv shows. Their pop culture discussions run deep and I often find myself nodding along. 5 Stars.
