Music Student 101

I have now listened to all 10 years worth of episodes! It took me awhile, but I did it. You guys have taught me a TON. I will continue to listen if you keep making them. I will also be going back for further study. I’ve played a few instruments over the years, and more recently I’ve been learning piano along side more theory. These episodes help me understand what I read, and I’m very grateful to Jeremy and Matthew. I also write music, so will plan to submit a song as soon as I am happy with it. Next stop is patreon or PayPal so I can do my part to help support you continue this one-of-a-kind resource.

Simply amazed by these wonderful musicians! They take such a fun approach to Music Theory…many music teachers don’t do that! They are so encouraging & inspiring! Have been a longtime listener, since the very beginning. Their shows never get boring. Could literally go on forever…but I’ll stop at this-their “Listener Compositions” are one of my favorites. So nice to see people share their music beyond YouTube & FB, etc. “Hearing” music is so different than watching a video…when music is shared as “an only audio version”…the heart, mind & soul respond in a special way. Our world is so visual now…God bless all the podcasters & “audio” musicians!

I love this podcast. I’ve listened to every episode and have now started re-listening to several that cover more complicated topics. It has made me a stronger musician, a much more competent composer, and, damnit, a more interesting person. (Ignore my family’s eye rolling as I once again bring up music theory at the dinner table.)

I studied piano when I was younger and recently resumed after nearly 40 years. I quickly discovered how much theory I did not know. Music student 101 is equal parts entertaining and informative. I cannot recommend it enough.

Stumbled across this show today because my young kids’ interest in music has resparked my own, and I would like to help them learn more. So many fascinating topics to explore! Can’t wait to dig in. Thanks so much guys!
