News in Slow French (Intermediate)

I’m following the content for Italian, Spanish, and French, and appreciate how it’s easier to follow the vocabulary that would otherwise be challenging for me because it relates to topics that are top of mind because of stories in the news. Especially this year, the new cycle has not made me smile, but at least I can get something out of it by learning other languages. Another thing that is useful is that when the new episodes are released, there are some similarities with the content in the varied languages, but also some differences. This means it’s varied enough to improve engagement but similar enough to help with comprehension.

This pod is NOT news- I lived and worked in France for 8 years and studied at sciences po and was looking to brush up on French after a few years…this is an editorial outlet masquerading as news…if you want denialist and largely liberal (in the American political sense) propaganda that’s wildly subjective and biased (and selective on the very few salient facts associated with American politics it chooses to relay…and which candidly the presenters really don’t understand contextually in my opinion) ….this is your show!

So happy to have found this! I have studied french for a few years and while I read it quite well, I continue to struggle with listening comprehension. I was feeling very frustrated by this. Listening and understanding real news, spoken by native french speakers, is very empowering. I feel confident that this will be great practice for me with a goal of understanding normal (fast) paced spoken french.
