Comedian Adam Blank hosts "Remember The Game?", a retro gaming podcast. Each week, Adam and his guest will select a video game that they grew up playing, and spend time reminiscing about what they loved (or hated) about it. Not intended to be a history lesson, "Remember The Game?" is more like a conversation you'd overhear on the playground as a kid. The discussions are all over the place, and are guaranteed to fill you with that warm, nostalgic feeling. (Or rage, like you felt with the underwat...

This is great!

This is not a review for the podcast, which is one of the greatest podcasts out there. To anyone that has said anything wrong with the intro, or who doesn’t like it oh well, it’s part of the awesomeness of the show so if you don’t like it then go start your own podcast. Oh wait it requires more than two brain cells.

Was still a good episode the cracks at sega kids made me laugh. If this is someone’s first listen don’t judge it too fast. Get to know the host then come back and listen to this one. All in all good episode it was at least 4 beers out of 6

Caters to a very specific nostalgia

Do you remember the dumbest kid in your schoolyard that complained the game “cheated” all the time? Do you have a strange nostalgia for them? Then do I have a podcast for you! Sit back and enjoy the boring, rambling 30+ minute intro that features actual clock watching (“ok that’s 25 minutes, probably enough”). The intro does provide an important service: Adam repeatedly reminding you he’s a comedian, because you sure wouldn’t know it from the rest of the episode. There’s literally one joke, repeated nearly every episode “this is a show about underrated gems that are new to our audience <beat> like Mario 64!!!11!!” Of the 25ish episodes I listened to, there were several comfy ones that I enjoyed. Adam sometimes has good chemistry with his guests. I also have to applaud that he knows what his podcast is trying to be - no research, no insight, just two guys (and it’s always guys) talking a game. I think if you really miss that specific type of hang from your 1980s childhood, this can be a good “background listen”. But I can’t put it in the top 80% of game podcasts. By quality it deserves 1 star, but for many people I can see it as a solid 3.
