RISK!

I just listened “ into the moving dark” I have wanted to become a patron but due to multiple surgeries and expensive medical issues I just didn’t feel I had the funds. I donate to several community support organizations. After hearing this story, I decided that nothing‘s going to change in this world unless we stand up and share our stories so that people can be exposed to alternative ways of thinking that might be more healthy for us all.. I am transsexual, I identify as male, and I feel deep sadness for the difficulty my female community members are suffering because of ignorance and the politics in this country. I am lucky in that I blend in easily with other men, and because I have a spinal cord injury and use a power wheelchair whenever I’m out in public, I feel very safe because of the fact that people are also nervous about those of us in chair chairs and keep their distance. Of course they’re wonderful people that want to support us but those that don’t or unlikely to bother me. I know what it’s like to be locked up. I suffered from severe depression prior to transition and spent many hours in psych hospitals. Some were amazing and some were terrifying. This beautiful woman who shared the podcast is so strong, I hope that I can hold that kind of strength as I move into more surgeries and likely run into those who do not support me. I now realize just how important this podcast is. I can’t give much but I will give what I can to keep the voices speaking truth. America was built on diversity and courage. We need to retain that courage in order to keep our freedom. Am I terrified being trans in the world right now? Absolutely! When I hear stories like I heard today, it gives me just a little bit more courage to hang in there. Enough already! We must not allow cruelty to take away our incredible power to love. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you for. your commitment to make America something far better than great. Thank you for making America more compassionate and empathetic. In the Bible, it says that God. IS love. Though I spend many hours contemplating, I don’t know much about God, but I hope to learn more and more about love every day until my last.

Been soaking this up for years now and recently way back into it. I’d say better than therapy, but therapy’s pretty damn good, too... Glad I took a Risk!

I have been listening to Risk for a long time and appreciate the authenticity, intimacy, vulnerability, and breadth of stories shared from a multitude of perspectives. This podcast is so valuable and has greatly expanded my understanding of different people’s experiences. My favorite episodes are the uninterrupted stories.
