Species, not Spee Shees
Please, please, please teach your on-air talent to pronounce species. A recent episode bounced back and forth between the scientist and the announcers, and the scientist pronounced it correctly every time and the announcers butchered it every time. Do this: have them say "specimen," then immediately say "species," then bop their foreheads that they could've thought it was pronounced "spe shees." It's audial content for people with an academic bent -- get that very key word right!
Peak Scientific Escapism
Short Wave provides us with a glimpse into the truly interesting, important, and sometimes whimsical research and innovation happening around the world in Science. It extends past borders, ideologies, and time to teach us about the real people working every day to improve human knowledge. Our hosts are a blast to spend time with and I end each episode with just a little more joy than when I started. A perfect start to any day!
Educational but not boring!
I absolutely love learning about all of the various topics. The experts present the information in layman’s terms so that we can all understand. Their excitement for their specific subject transfers to the listener, aka, me!!
Informative
Informative with just about the right amount of banter for a podcast, although the hosts can, at times, be a little over the top with their enthusiasm for the subject. The guests are interesting and the topics topical.
