Excellent podcast
Great research, direct delivery with no personal stuff stuck in to entertain. The stories are entertaining enough to this history lover. Thank you, Ms Ballard for showing me that some people can do a clean historical podcast without all the background noise.
True Crime and History at its Best
Shannon provides episodes filled with true crime and history. She doesn’t use cheap tricks to drag out episodes, instead the podcast is thoroughly researched and well written. You don’t get hype or opinions. You get facts and a professional presentation. Her podcasts are fun to listen to and she brings the history and its participants to life. She gives them a voice.
Well Researched
She presents the information without injecting politics, nor adding her opinions. You can tell the information is well researched. Great information!
Very well done
I certainly have enjoyed listening to Southern mysteries podcasts! Living in the Southeast, I can easily relate to the people in places in these stories. Shannon Ballard speaks slowly, clearly and annunciates her words perfectly! I also like that in the ones I have listened to, the victims are given respect and dignity, no matter their place in life.
Feels as Though it has an Overall Negative Tone.
While the theme of the podcast is true crime, which—admittedly—isn’t always heartwarming, the pod feels more and more like the hostess seeking an opportunity to wax eloquent with Lisa Simpson Syndrome. Not every episode has to be a sociological dissertation. Not the goal of the show is to be “pro-southern,” but I don’t know that the host doesn’t simply dive into stereotypes about nearly all things Southern. It’s kinda hard to enjoy something when it feels like you’re constantly being lectured by someone who considers herself significantly better than most of her audience.
