Stop Rewind: The Lost Boy

Wonderfully produced. Heartbroken for the little boy, but…wow, the adult man is a rough hang. He has so many unresolved issues and is very quick to blame everyone around him. The detail about getting angry with Priya over a $2 sandwich made it really hard to continue to sympathize with him.

An incredible and wonderfully told story. My mama heart hurt for both moms but there’s so much beauty weaved throughout the tragedy. May God bless you all.

I too was adopted from an orphanage in India by a white Mormon family but in 1990! This seems all to similar !

Got this recommendation from Reddit. Went back to the thread on Reddit to say “thank you” because it was so good. The sound quality is perfect. The background tracks are perfect. The story is riveting. The people are incredibly likable. Emotions are often universally complex and worth thinking about. It sounds like it took several years to make it and you can tell that time went into doing it right. So much cleaning got done because I couldn’t stop listening. :-)

I couldn’t stop listening to this podcast! The writer/presenter does an exceptional job presenting Taj/Chellamutu’s story in a compassionate yet thorough look at a crime that has reverberated across 40 years. Though I understand he was severely traumatized & suffered terribly, I found adult Taj to be an overbearing perfectionist (exactly the way his friends described his adoptive father who isn’t interviewed.) He bullies his Indian family if they accept financial assistance & don’t do as he says (he criticizes a female relative for gaining weight.) He desperately needs evidence-based therapy to help him heal but he won’t seek it due to his Mormon faith & that saddens me. He’s so hurt & that pain is taken out on others.
