The Odyssey

A.Carl Stratton7/18/2026

Always insightful and interesting but please stop trying to fit the “theme” of every movie to your political views. To wit; the Odyssey is all about the collapse of civilizations which you seem to believe is relevant to this country today. After making this misguided assertion you move to Nolan’s the burden of the great man theme- which is more relevant and reflects most of history and then the epic story the movie is. Sean, you are not a great man in the macro sense but you underestimate your greatness -and your burdens-in terms of your family and your work. Stop apologizing for being a man. And Amanda, nice try with Nolan’s “ resurrection”of Penelope. The movie depicts a moment in time including the values of people for good or bad. Do you really think most moviegoers approach films from your prism? Can’t a movie be just a movie? Apparently never for the Big Picture.

Best movie podcast I’ve listened to

Sean and Amanda have really got something with this podcast. Even when I disagree with them, I still find their conversations fascinating.

Fewer folks on drafts/less crosstalk.

I love CR, Rob, and Van and always listen when one or the other is on. Sean and Amanda are fine, they just need someone else there to keep it light and fun. But for the love of god, please stop including 5+ folks on the draft episodes, which I used to love. Can’t hear a single point and everything is so confusing and hectic, leaves you feeling scatterbrained and exhausted.

Had enough

Mistakes self-seriousness with intelligence. Severely unfunny as well.
