In the recent episode with Dr. Fuhrman he speaks of women in mid-life and older cutting calories down to 1300 or less, to lose weight, without mentioning the nuances of nutrition and the effects of perimenopause and menopause on the body as well as body composition and the effects of strength training and increased protein. It’s so tiring hearing male doctors talk so confidently about women’s health - women are not little men. Would be refreshing to have more experts on the show who are experts in female health.

I am loving this podcast and I listen to every episode. The host, Chuck, is fantastic, genuine, entertaining, educational. This show is absolutely the best to learn about health and wellness. Engaging, funny, entertaining, inspiring. The whole package. I hope this podcast will be going for decades to come. Thank you!!!!!

The recent episode on closure of the ONPRC was unresearched and oversimplified in your efforts to sensationalize the topic. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is “discovered” but still not fully understood in terms of the effects of early pregnancy and low to moderate exposure. Human studies of precise timing of alcohol exposure, exact doses and fetal brain analysis are unethical. Not only are NHPs still essential, they are deeply cared for by those in the field. You chose to highlight a tragic, deeply sad and yes, horrific, accident. You presented it as typical care. This is simply uninformed. I can state this as a veterinarian (not at ONPRC) but with years of experience caring for beloved research animals. You spoke nothing of the current limitations of NAMs and the desire of all of us to replace animal models whenever possible. You did not explain that duplicated animal research is not approved by either funding agencies or requisite ethical research committees (IACUCs). You omitted current critical research that will die in the vine and delay new therapies for people (ex. Blindness and gene therapy). You owe more to this audience. I’m now questioning all of your content. Scientific rigor was so low in this episode that overall trust was broken. Involving board certified lab animal veterinarians to present a balanced viewpoint would have been ideal.
