An honest and hilarious take on the struggles, failures and rare victories of trying to be a writer.

I only recently discovered this podcast amongst the myriad other writing podcast, and after listening to the newest couple episodes, I went back and started at episode 1. The guys openly share their excuses, folly’s and rare victories, and will keep you laughing throughout. they even express their doubts as the realities of life, work and family impede their efforts to meet their goals, which I find incredibly relatable. They also bring in outstanding guests to speak on their own failures and successes in writing. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to write for a living or who just wants a good chuckle.

Loads of fun!

This podcast is a great blend of entertainment and education. I feel like I always learn something new and get a good laugh.

Back after a brief hiatus, and that was the Failing Writers’ fault. But wait sec… Hear me out.

I’ve been listening to The Failing Writers for a couple of years now. I started while driving across the United States, headed back to Texas to begin a new journey as a writer post-service in the Marine Corps. I discovered TFWs and they’ve been like friends and mentors and comrades in literary arms since. So much so, that they helped inspire me to write my first novel. I spent the last six months hammering out the first draft, and really kept my head down during that time. A lot of reading and writing, but not a lot of podcast listening. The story is resting between revisions and I thought I’d check in on my favorite fellow failures, only to discover that during my hiatus, they’d released another 10 episodes! I’m hazing myself now, and catching up as quickly as I can. So, do yourself a favor or maybe even a few favors. 1) Listen to The Failing Writers. 2) Be inspired and write, write, write. 3) And build in time to keep up with these guys. You won’t regret it. They’re the best! Semper Fidelis, Aaron

I came for the contest and stayed for the witty banter of Failing Writers

I entered the flash fiction challenge on the recommendation of a friend and was duped into listening to the episode (at 1.25 speed) to get the prompt and phrase. In truth, I had to listen to it twice because I became so engaged with the podcast that I forgot to note the phrase. Since then, I’ve listened to every episode (not in order, of course…why would I do that?) and have thoroughly enjoyed the banter, the interviews, the three-chapter submissions as dramatizations, throwing out ideas and excuses about not writing. I now write with semi-regular(ish) fervor accompanied by a glass of amethyst-infused wine and can confirm to Jon, Tom, and Dave, that a leg cramp is called a Charley Horse in the United States. Listen to the podcast if you want to know what I’m talking about. It's easier than writing.

This podcast is excellent company.

Three British writers discuss, ruminate and regurgitate the craft and pain of life at the sharp end of the pencil. Their entertaining banter is interspersed by interviews with “successful” authors, offering fascinating insights into the business of writing.
