Great stories. What a treat. Waiting for more black, brown, indigenous and Palestinian writers please.
My Favorite Podcast
Ever since just before the fire vaporized our house in 2008, I have listened to this podcasts. It has propelled me to learn about authors I might otherwise have ignored. It has taught me how to listen. Just as handwriting exercises the hand to brain muscle so does listening to a short story exercise the ear to brain message. I can’t overstate the enjoyment Fiction podcast has provided. The conversations before and after each reading between editor and author/reader are always fascinating and deserve the listeners attention.
Lose the background soundscape.
We want to listen to the writer discussing the featured story. No need for background soundscape. Let us listen.
Awful interpretation of Carver
The discussion about Raymond Carver's story was soo far off base. Absolutely unhinged read on that story. This is not a positive story, no character is going to be okay. Its a complete mis-read on the story. Terrible. The narrator is taking our credit to keep up with the payments to his family who isn't paying him back. It absolutely cannot continue at that trajectory. It is a story of despair? Of what happens when you overextend. Ugh. Anyway..
Traditional of quality
Consistently wonderful telling and analysis, of truly delightful and expertly written tales. Providing new voices of experienced authors, reading some of their favorite stories, written by others. The host is the perfect guide for each journey.
