Optispan is a vision for what health should be. The typical person gives up 10-20 years of quality life in exchange for disability, frailty, and early death. We call this "the lost decade". Time that should be spent with loved ones doing the activities you enjoy are instead spent suffering from multiple diseases and taking a cabinet full of medications that probably do as much harm as good. Dr. K is great!

Nisha pat11/2/2025

So knowledgeable. We saw him speak live and have been big fans of his work. He definitely cuts through the noise and is truly doing ground breaking research in the longevity space, without a lot of the fluff quick fix advice that has muddied the field.

Science to sale pitch

I used to like listening to Matt and his very science informed opinions and would caveat his ‘takes’ vs ‘research baked’. But the most recent episode on cognitive improvements was nothing more than n=1 case study and what seemed to be poorly educated in the space guests opinions.

Latest podcast with Dr Seager

Dr Seager stated that for MD’s, knowledge ceases once we finish medical school. There was no pushback from Matt. I’ve heard ridiculous comments from guests, but that one tops the list. I’ve been a physician for 34 years and like every physician I have ever known, we obviously know that medical school is simply a springboard towards the goal for knowledge. Physicians read scientific, peer-reviewed journals, we have journal club to discuss recent articles, we attend scientific meetings, we are required to maintain certification through continuing medical education credits and we are required to pass board examinations. Many of us are involved in cutting edge scientific research. This guest sounds like he has an ax to bear against physicians. I’m guessing this philosophy will change one day when a physician helps him with his health or saves his life. Herbert Stern MD, FAAP, FACC

Matt is the best. I have been taking rapamycin for 4 years and love his passion for the topic. He's an honest and trustworthy source for longevity news and information.

Brilliant, experienced scientist communicating the science of aging

blaisemar3/29/2024

Matt is an extremely well-read and experienced scientist in the field of aging. His work, particularly stemming from his postdoc, has led to deep understandings on how we age and how we may be able to mitigate aging and the diseases of aging. Among a field plagued with bad actors, Matt is a shining star. He provides perspective for those on the outside looking in and inspiration & guidance for those on the inside looking out. I’d recommend anyone that wants to learn more about aging and the state of aging research to listen to what Matt has to say.
