True Crime with Kendall Rae

UGH. I used to really enjoy this show until things started feeling so disingenuous. I took a break then came back and it's WORSE. Every other line is her inserting her speculation and opinion. Very poor writing.

Just one thing Re: Haley’s law, a code pink is for a missing infant in a hospital—totally agree with the legislation, and big tech has to take responsibility, but the color has to change. Too many ppl associate pink with a code pink. But to those who say “too much ads:” A. It’s ’too many’ as ads is plural, B. what podcasts, unless you’re on a subscription service, almost all podcasts have ads. If one cannot hit Fwd 30 sec and few times in a row—pay for no ads! Like the rest of us do when we love a podcast and hate commercials.

She clearly doesn’t do her own research anymore, it feels like that she doesn’t care anymore. So many of her videos are just her not knowing information that can easily be looked up or refusing to share important information. Victim blamed a 12 year old for being groomed by an adult and tried to pass the blame onto her researcher. You didn’t read the script over before hand? Did you not realize what you were saying? There’s a case where a kid killed another kid, she tells this story where she killed her piano teacher’s plant basically saying that “kids just do stuff sometimes”. Those things are not comparable at all! She used to be such a champion for missing persons cases, John/Jane Does, unjust outcomes but now it’s mainly solved cases, people faking cancer, and spouse murdering spouse cases. I don’t want to diminish these cases but I feel like the attention could be used elsewhere I am getting tired of the person faking cancer stories. I don’t get the obsession. The person wants attention, why are you giving them more? I’m sure a missing person’s loved one would love for their case to be on the channel instead of the billionth person faking cancer story A family member of a person she did a video on (Linda Stein, pogo stick murder) has been begging her for over a year now to take down the video. She’s ignored this person, the family member received a generic response when they emailed Kendall’s business email. The family member did not like how Kendall portrayed her. She did private the video after getting comments on it but the reels of the case are still up. Never addressed it though, yet she’s always the first to call other content creators out for doing unethical things and not listening to family members There’s now another family member that’s come out and said she doesn’t like how Kendall did her mom’s case. She’s tried to get Kendall to remove the video with no avail. Then in the family member’s TikTok on Kendall there’s a comment from another person saying they don’t like how Kendall did their family member’s case Backed out of working with a family member because the family member wanted Sarah Turney involved as a victim’s advocate. It’s not that big of an ask, also Kendall knows Sarah, is/was friends with her so I don’t get the problem. It’s gross, disrespectful and says that Kendall doesn’t care about victims We get it you’re a mother and you can’t even imagine the pain the family feels. You don’t need to constantly mention it and bring in your own personal opinions There’s multiple interviews she’s done with family members where the audio is so bad you can’t understand the person, why not try to clean up the audio or put closed captions in the video version? Instead of taking the feedback she gets mad at the audience. I can’t understand someone who is quietly talking or another person who had their smoke detector go off the entire interview You watch a video of hers from 8 years ago and it’s like it’s a completely different person. She used to be this carefree, hippy girl who partnered with small businesses and journal companies but I feel like she’s lost interest in true crime. Few years ago she tweeted that she would never work with BetterHelp, she then started being sponsored by them. Deleted said tweet when people were quote tweeting it, calling her out. Then years ago she made a video crying, begging people to sign up to her channel so she could get money or she would have to get a regular job. Again, she’s always calling people out for being unethical but when it’s her she just ignores it

love this podcast! kendall is my fav and i love how she handles these cases.

Ignore the reviewer rambling about your criticisms of police. You’re right to criticize them. I’ve never heard you do more than simply criticize the ineptitudes specific to the crime, which means the reviewers argument of ThEy’Re NoT aLl BaD has zero relevance to your content, but even if you had/have criticized policing generally, you would still be correct. Five stars, given independently of those facts.
