Professor Marion Nestle
What a loser! Her review that the FDA job to test additives is “too hard so we shouldn’t do it” — is particularly disturbing. She hits me as definitely NOT a top scientist. Maybe get someone on board with a more balanced opinion and a lot more credentials behind their name. Someone that wants to truly make food better and safer (somebody that can’t think outside the box and it’s childish when it’s too hard and gives up —is just a bore)
Fantastic, science-based
I listen to every new episode each week and have heard many of the past episodes also. Sound research.
Blind spot
I like this podcast and have made so many lifetime changes as a result. I like that it’s so up to date, the science changes constantly and faster than your own health providers and govt advice can keep up with. Unfortunately, I think they do have a sexist blind spot when it comes to younger women. There is never any discussion about foods to eat to conceive, to eat in pregnancy, to reduce pregnancy ailments, to eat postnatal shortly after birth, to regulate periods, to reduce risk of female specific cancers, etc. it’s either advice for everyone or advice for menopausal women.
Could be a lot better
They are not as educational as they could be. A whole episode on UPFs and how awful they are and not a shred of explanation about mechanisms that are harmful. Ended up seeming kind of superficial. Ppl already know this stuff at a high level are your audience but we don’t necessarily learn more. Is that because this is trying to get us to pay for expensive memberships? Wish they would cover things in depth.
The Big Picture
This podcast has helped me improve my health but I wish they would dedicate a show to giving context on fermented foods for those of us who taking statins and BP meds. If we have to watch our sodium and saturated fat intake should we avoid fermented foods, does fermentation process negate our concerns or are their some foods we should avoid and others that are safe to eat in terms of fat and sodium. Thanks Zoe Team!
